Annual Income of Pashupatinath temple can exceed 50 Millions

The opacity of funds of Pashupatinath temple had always been trouble to many governments and stakeholders. After six days of continuous counting, the authorities have said that the annual funds raised in Pashupatinath can exceed 50 million. They further said that the amount is estimated from normal days prayers leaving special occasions and festivals.
The counting has been done for the first time ever in the history of Nepal. Previously, the Bhattas and Bhandaris used to divide money themselves without consent of others.

Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Director Ramesh Upreti says, money offered in the temple is counted twice a day, based on the two-time major prayer schedules. Devotees offer money mainly during morning prayers (8 am - 2 pm) and evening prayers (5 Pm - 8pm). According to officials, one third of the total amount collected in a day is raised during morning prayers.
The counting is done twice a day i.e. morning after 2 pm and evening after 8 pm.  The collected funds are deposited in Nepal Investment Bank(NIB) account. The appropriation of the collected fund is not decided yet. It is said that the amount will be spent on development of Pashupati Area.
